ED O'NEAL

Ed O'Neal is a retired military officer, inventor, entrepreneur and veterans advocate who has a deep love of God, country and community.
"My goals are to help make Scotland County a better place for everyone to live, work and achieve their personal aspirations. Much has been done and there is much more to do as we face future challenges."

Ed is a 1986 graduate of Pembroke State University and has earned advanced degrees from Abilene Christian University, South Dakota State University, Air University and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces (Eisenhower School).

He served in the 82nd Airborne Division as a medic and after college was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the US Air Force. His military decorations include the Bronze Star with Valor device and Purple Heart. In 2007, Ed retired as a lieutenant colonel after 24 years of service. He continues to be active in veteran's affairs as Commander, American Veterans Post 316, and belongs to American Legion Post 50, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Military Order of the Purple Heart.

Ed has also worked in the private section for Shell Oil Company and has done consulting work with oil and gas, healthcare and pharmaceutical clients.

He is married to the former Jacque Britt of Laurinburg and has one daughter, Whitney and 2 grandchildren, Tyson and Luke.
